Thursday, August 10
Pro Football Hall of Fame and other stops

Our Thursday tour will comprise three stops. We will board a motor coach at the hotel for a ride to Canton, where the first stop will be the First Ladies National Historic Site. We'll spend a few hours there and receive a guided tour.

Next up is the Pro Football Hall of Fame. With the timing of Americover, we will be visiting there just after Hall of Fame week, which has the inductions of the new class of Hall of Famers and also hosts the annual Hall of Fame game. Your tour fee covers admission to the Hall (lunch will be on your own).

After the Hall, we will make a short stop at Harry London’s Chocolate Factory in North Canton. Here you’ll be able to see with a self-guided tour how they make the chocolate, try some samples, and be able to purchase world famous Buckeyes to take with you. From there we return to the hotel.

Friday, August 11
President’s Banquet and 2016 Cachet Award Winners

The main social event of the convention begins at 7:00 p.m. and runs until 10:00 p.m. – plenty of time to enjoy good company and good food. The event begins with a no-host cash bar and the annual 50/50 raffle ticket sales. Then you can enjoy the Cuyahoga Valley Buffet, which will include:
  • Tuscan Chicken
  • Salmon with Kentucky Bourbon & Vanilla Bean Beurre Blanc
  • Top Sirloin of Beef with Cabernet Sauvignon Sauce
  • Garden Fresh Salad with Assorted Dressings
  • Seasonal Vegetables
  • Oven Roasted Yukon Gold Potatoes
  • Chef’s Selection of Dessert
We can accommodate special dietary needs if you identify your requirements by June 30.

After dinner we’ll make presentations to the winners of the Cachetmakers’ Contest while images of winning cachets are projected on a large screen as award categories are announced.

Saturday, August 12
Cachetmakers Moonlight Meal

Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. is your opportunity to buy FDCs directly from cachetmakers (No entrance fee).

After the bourse enjoy the Independence Deli, where the following will be offered:
  • Homemade Soup
  • Fresh Garden Salad with Assorted Dressings
  • Deli Tray: Roast Beef, Turkey, Ham, Salami & Assorted Cheeses
  • Accompaniments: Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions & Pickles
  • Assorted Breads & Condiments
  • Fire Roasted Red Pepper Pasta, Potato Salad & Cole Slaw
  • Baked Jumbo Cookies
As is tradition, a cover from a well-known cachetmaker will be given out to those who register and attend.

Sunday, August 13
Dinner at Melt Bar & Grilled

After the show closes, plan on attending our wind-down dinner. This year, we will be going to Melt Bar & Grilled, a Cleveland original that's been featured on Food TV Network and such shows as “Man vs. Food” and “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.” They are famous for gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, including their signature Grilled Cheese and Pierogi. We will be dining family style in a separate banquet room at the restaurant. Your fee covers the meal and transportation. There will be cash bar for those who wish to really unwind.

Please make a donation to one or more of the Americover funds and help the show be a success. Consider becoming one of our AFDCS distinguished "Guiding Lights" by contributing to the Beacon Fund. Your donation of $100 or more allows the convention committee to make a good show even better, without fear of running over budget. Beacon members receive a distinctive engraved name badge to show appreciation for their extra support. Make your Beacon Fund donation before the June 30 deadline in order to get the special badge.
