The American First Day Cover Society has been designated a nonprofit, 501(c)(3), organization by the Internal Revenue Service. Your donation is tax deductible to the fullest extent the law allows.

Times are tough for all non-profit organizations these days. With investments down and societies' members squeezed by layoffs, investment losses, mortgage problems, sluggish sales, and uneasiness over job security, there's less money coming in.

The American First Day Cover Society is no exception. Our costs are going up while our membership is going down. And we understand that: It's hard to justify membership in a philatelic society when someone isn't sure about paying the rent or mortgage.

Although the situation is unsettling, we also know some members aren't as affected by these economic problems as others are.

We'd appreciate your help. Without additional funds, the AFDCS faces some tough choices we don't want to make.

So this might be an opportune time to remind you of the good work the Society does, including:

  • Publishing an award-winning professional-looking journal 8 times a year;
  • Advocating for first day cover collectors, including frequent contact with the U.S. Postal Service;
  • Publishing handbooks, catalogues and research;
  • Promoting FDC exhibiting, and
  • Showcasing top cachetmakers, both in our annual contest and through our cachet series.
