Longtime member John Byrnes of Ajo, Arizona, passed away the weekend before Christmas. He was 67. John served for a number of years as Cachet Contest Chair and was a generous donor to the AFDCS auctions.

By acclamation, the leadership of the AFDCS the previous week had voted to honor John with the Glenn C. Michel Special Recognition Award and, rather than wait to present it, as is our custom, at our convention, a certificate was mailed to him. Hopefully, he got it before he passed away, but if not, again hopefully, his family will get it and know how much we valued him.

John was recently featured in the Ajo Copper News, showing his award in the 2018 AFDCS Cachetmakers contest.
