AFDCS LOGO CONTEST
Celebrating Our 50th Anniversary

In 2005, the American First Day Cover Society will celebrate its 50th anniversary. As part of this celebration, a contest is being held to design a logo for the AFDCS' golden anniversary celebration.

The AFDCS has the luxury of having many creative and talented designers among its membership. The logo will be used on letterheads, on society accessories, in First Days and other venues as the AFDCS deems appropriate, and for various other uses throughout 2005 as well as during Americover 2005. This contest is open to all AFDCS members and the winner will receive an AFDCS life membership (a $500 value). If the winner is already a life member, then they may transfer the prize to any other AFDCS member in good standing. Additionally, a bonus of $250 cash will be paid to the winner.

Deadline: Entries must be received no later than October 15, 2004.

Eligibility: Entrants must be AFDCS members.

Creativity: The creativity of an entry is more important than the quality of the drawing itself.

Criteria:

  • No more than three entries per contestant.
  • Logos must be submitted on separate 8-1/2 x 11 inch sheets of white paper.
  • Logos must be black and white drawings, without shadings or cross hatching.
  • Designs must be adaptable to any size without loss of quality of detail.
  • Logos must include the words "American First Day Cover Society" or "AFDCS" and the years "1955-2005."
  • Logos may include several additional words emphasizing a theme proposed by the entrant.
  • Each design entry must be either the original drawing or a high-quality black-and-white photocopy of the original design.
  • Entrant's name, address, email address (if available), daytime and evening telephone numbers must appear on the back of each logo entry.

The contest will be judged by a committee appointed by the AFDCS president and the decision of the judges will be final. The winner will be notified no later than November 1, 2004.

Nonwinners will have their artwork returned only if they include a self-addressed stamped envelope with their entry. The winning design will become the sole property of the American First Day Cover Society and may be modified as required for use by the AFDCS. The AFDCS also reserves the right not to use any of the entries.

Entries should be sent to AFDCS Logo Contest, PO Box 65960, Tucson, AZ 85728 in such a manner as to insure arrival no later than October 15, 2004.

The AFDCS is not responsible for entries lost or delayed in the mail.
