Stacks Image 949
Depart from the hotel at 8 a.m. for a short trip to Washington Press, the home of ArtCraft cachets. While there, we’ll receive a plant tour, hear a presentation about the history of ArtCraft and the production of Artcraft cachets and meet current ArtCraft Artist Susan Jorritsma, who designed the 2010 AFDCS Court of Honor cachet.

From there, we’ll travel to New York City, with Henry Scheuer as our tour guide, for a group photo in front of the historic Collectors Club of New York before continuing on past Broadway and the Flatiron Building to have a Dutch treat lunch at Katz’s Deli, a New York City landmark since 1888.

Next, we’ll drive past Chinatown, the Woolworth Building and Wall Street before arriving at the World Trade Center site where we’ll have a chance to visit the Memory Gardens, photograph the Freedom Tower, walk around the 16-acre site, and view the reconstruction. Finally, we’ll travel to Champion Stamp Company, New York City’s sole surviving street level stamp store, where everyone will have a chance to browse their stock. The bus will return to the hotel at approximately 5:45 p.m.

We can accommodate special dietary needs if you identify your requirements by June 30.

Dinner includes pasta e fagioli, a choice of Caesar salad, antipasto salad and marinated peppers and fennel salad, fresh baked garlic bread and assorted artisan rolls, Italian vegetables, and your choice of two desserts: traditional tiramisu and cheesecake. Iced tea and regular and decaffeinated coffee also will be served.

We’ll salute ArtCraft Cachets, make presentations to the winners of several Cachetmaker of the Century categories and then the images of the Cachetmakers’ Contest winning cachets will be projected on a large screen as award categories are announced.
